The Mercedes 230 SL was introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motorshow, and was the successor of the 190 SL. From the beginning, the W113 had a six-in-line engine, which promised good performance. Both automatic and manual gearboxes were available, and most of the cars were sold in the USA. The timeless design of Paul Bracq still looks fantastic, and is a perfect blend of function and style. In 1967, the 230 SL was succeeded by the 250 SL which had a bigger engine, rear disc brakes and of course better performance. In 1968 already, the 250 SL was replaced by the 280 SL. With only one year of production, this makes the 250 SL the rarest of all W113 with only 5196 examples built.

The fantastic example we offer for sale is quite unique, as it is never restored and still in its first paint of Papyrus White 717G. The car was delivered in the summer of 1967 to its first owner by Housen's Motors, the official Mercedes-Benz dealer of Sacramento, California. It had a black painted hardtop from new, and colour coded matching black hub caps. This hardtop comes with the car, and is also still in its first and original paint. The interior was finished in black MB Tex, and the car still has this first upholstery just as it left the factory. All original factory stickers are still there, and even the instructions to use the sparewheel is still visible in the boot. The engine is not the original unit anymore, but now a more powerful 280 engine (code 130). This is not uncommon on SL's, and also an improvement for the performance of the car.

This timewarp and stylish SL is a unique find, as it has never been restored and still in absolutely perfect condition, as the photographs will show. The car is 100% useable, and looks like it is only a couple of years old. The glorious colour combination of black and white looks absolutely stunning, and the engine runs as smooth as you would expect from a Mercedes-Benz in top condition. We were very lucky to come across this astonishing car, and we are searching a fastidious collector who will keep this wonderful SL in this actual condition for at least a couple of decades...
