A TVR Griffith 200 is a very rare car, as only 192 examples were ever made, but a TVR Griffith 200 with racing history from day 1, and still in original condition is simply unique. As you can imagine, we were very pleased when we came across this fantastic example last year. It was purchased from the New York Motorshow in 1964 by its first and only owner. He had the choice between a white and a blue example, and as he intended to race the car in the SCCA championship he has chosen the white car. The original purchase invoice is still with the car, and also the racing results from 1965 until 1978. In fact, there comes a huge file with this historic racer, with not only the previous racing results, but also original documents and brochures, period pictures of the car when raced in the sixties and seventies, and lots of other interesting stuff.

This Griffith with chassisnr 200/05/043 had the HiPo engine from new, and it was tuned for racing by Gus Davis Marinautomotive at Buena Park, California, by using original Ford High Performance parts. A roll cage was fitted, and the Griffith was ready for serious track action. In 1978, the owner retired from racing, and kept the car registered for the road, until the autumn of 2013 when the car came to Europe.

During the last 12 months, this Griffith has been mechanically renovated and prepared for historic racing, but still retaining its original paint and period race livery. Suspension, brakes and drivetrain are carefully rebuild, and the engine is overhauled and further prepared. The original interior was completely worn out and now removed, but it will come with the car. A new Tillett FIA racing seat is now fitted in combination with a modern Sabelt safety harness.

This is really a once in a lifetime opportunity to obtain an almost completely original and one-owner-from-new Griffith 200, with racing history dating back to 1965. The body is untouched and proudly wears all stickers and scars covering a period of 50 years in competition. This is PATINA WITH A BIG P ! Can you imagine arriving at the starting grid of a historic race with this time capsule ? After hearing the impressive sound of the 289ci Ford / Cobra engine, the crowd will be surprised to see this unusual but oh so correct looking Griffith thundering by. This is definitely THE car for any historic racer who wants to be at the front of the race in the most unique car of the grid.

This exceptional Griffith is ready for action, and now we are looking for someone to tame it !
